Jury Duty for Superior Court

Being Called for Jury Duty

When you are selected to serve for Jury Duty, you will receive a summons in the mail that will need to be filled out and either mailed or returned to the Clerk’s Office located at the Asotin County Courthouse on the Second Floor. The summons will be mailed out the month before your jury term and will state the month in which you will be called for jury duty. For example, if you are called for jury duty in February, you will receive your summons in January.

If there is a conflict with serving in the month you are called for, there is an option on the summons to reschedule your service to a different month (if you do reschedule, another summons will be sent to you for the month you have chosen.) Only the Judge can excuse a Juror from serving. If you are asking to be excused, you will still need to complete the summons and we will give it to the Judge for consideration. Please do not call with your excuse. You will be notified by letter with the Judge’s decision.

When a trial is scheduled the month you are to serve, the Clerk's Office will call you at the phone number provided on the summons a week before to let you know the date and time. Once we have confirmed with you the date you will be present for jury selection, we will let you know to call the jury message line the night before the trial after 5 pm. The message will let you know that you will either have to report, or in case the trial is stricken, that you will not have to report.
